Privacy Policy

SpeakSavvy is an AI speaking coach for iPhone. Standard practice is designed to keep your audio on your device. Live Voice is a separate, optional cloud feature with its own clear consent step.

Information you create in SpeakSavvy

SpeakSavvy stores the practice sessions you record — audio, transcripts, scores, and settings — on your device. This data is used to play back sessions, show score trends, and track progress. We do not maintain a server-side practice account or receive a copy of your standard practice sessions.

Microphone and speech recognition

SpeakSavvy uses the microphone to record your practice and Apple's speech recognition to transcribe it. Audio analysis — pitch, volume, voice quality, pace, and per-word clarity — runs on your device. Standard practice recordings are not uploaded. On devices or languages without on-device speech recognition, Apple's system speech-recognition fallback may process speech for transcription under Apple's privacy policy.

AI coaching

Coaching feedback can run fully on-device using Apple's on-device intelligence on supported devices. When Cloud AI Coaching is active, SpeakSavvy sends the transcript text of your practice answer and related practice context through the SpeakSavvy relay to the provider selected for that task, currently OpenAI or Groq, to generate coaching feedback. Standard practice audio is not sent for cloud coaching.

Live Voice

Live Voice is optional and off by default. Before it can start, you see an in-app disclosure, choose to turn it on, and grant iOS microphone access. During an active Live Voice session, your microphone audio streams through the SpeakSavvy relay to OpenAI for real-time spoken coaching and transcription. A persistent LIVE indicator appears while audio is streaming. Ending the session stops future streaming.

OpenAI's standard API controls may retain API inputs and outputs, including Live Voice audio and transcript data, for up to 30 days for abuse monitoring, unless legal obligations require longer. Turning off Live Voice withdraws consent for future sessions; it does not erase data OpenAI may already retain under its API policy.

Tracking and advertising

SpeakSavvy does not use the advertising identifier, does not track you across apps or websites, and does not sell your data.
